SWEET POTATO BURGERS

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/2 sweet potato, sliced

  • 4 oz grass-fed beef

  • raw cheddar, sliced

  • pickles

  • tomato, sliced

  • lettuce

  • homemade pickled red onions

  • 2 tbsp special sauce

  • avocado oil spray

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp red pepper flake, optional

  • salt and pepper, to taste

METHOD:

1. 1. Place a sweet potato in the microwave for 3 minutes. Depending on the size of the sweet potato, this will cook it completely, or at least make it easier to slice.

2. Slice the sweet potato in to rounds. Place the soft sliced sweet potato in the fridge until ready to serve. If you have quite a large sweet potato and it is not cooked from the microwave, cook in the oven if necessary.

3. Combine the ground beef with the seasonings in a bowl. Roll into balls. Flatten into patties, about 3-inches wide. Set aside. (Tip: Use remaining ground beef for meatballs, or patties and freeze).

4. Prepare the toppings. Slice cheddar cheese, tomatoes, and gather other desired toppings.

5. Heat a pan over medium-high heat, and with avocado oil spray.

6. Cook the patties for about 2 1/2 minutes on each side. After flipping, add the cheese to melt it. Remove burgers when done.

7. Make the burgers with the toppings. Enjoy warm!
